Tony Reeves is Non-Executive Chairman of Australian organic and natural livestock producer, Hewitt Cattle Australia (HCA) and also Arcadian Organic & Natural Meat Co. which is a leading global supplier of branded, premium quality, certified organic and natural meat.
Tony is an experienced non-executive director where he is currently Chair of St Vincent’s Institute of Medical Research and a director of PBS Private Banking Services Limited. Prior to his NED roles Tony’s executive career saw him serve as Chief Financial Officer of several Australian public companies, including Treasury Wine Estates Limited a vertically integrated, global producer and marketer of branded wine, Foster's Group Limited and OneSteel Limited, a fully integrated Australian manufacturer and distributor of steel and finished steel products, which was demerged from BHP Billiton. Earlier in his career, he was CFO of Orica Explosives after holding several senior executive roles in strategy, finance, marketing and IT with the ICI Group in the UK, USA, and Australia.
Tony is a past President of the Group of 100, an organisation of CFOs from Australia's largest businesses. He is a graduate of the Harvard Business School’s Program for Management Development, The University of NSW with a Master of Commerce and the University of New England with a Bachelor of Economics. Tony is a Fellow of CPA Australia, a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and the Financial Executives Institute.
Mick Hewitt is Chief Executive Officer of Australian organic and natural livestock producer, Hewitt Cattle Australia (HCA). Under Mick’s direction, the company has committed to creating a sustainable integrated animal protein business. Supported by strong management teams, Mick has targeted investment in innovation and established highly functional management and financial systems.
With operational experience at the foundation of his career, Mick has cultivated a comprehensive understanding of animal protein production systems. This has been enhanced by his involvement in the processing, marketing, and trading stages of the supply chain with both domestic and international companies. These experiences have fostered an ability to identify synergies and build innovative ecosystems of investments within the red meat industry and beyond.
Mick leads deal origination through to capital raising and the execution of transactions. This ability is complemented by strong management of relationships with key stakeholders. These skills were fundamental to creating a joint venture between Hewitt Group Australia and Canadian sovereign wealth fund, Public Sector Pension Investment Board.
Mick is a Director and shareholder of Hewitt Group Australia. He has gained extensive cross-industry experience while leading investment and stakeholder management across a variety of other ventures during his career including directorships and oversight of fintech, sports tech, hospitality, and real estate investments.
Beyond his roles with HCA and Hewitt Group Australia, Mick sits on the board of leading agribusiness’ Western Plains Pork and Australian Dairy Pastures, and industry leading red meat processing and marketing company, Arcadian Organic & Natural Meat Company.
Mick is proud to represent his peers for a second three-year term as one of three industry elected grass-fed producer appointees to the Meat & Livestock Australia Selection Committee tasked with appointing the National Board.
Ben Hewitt is Chief Operating Officer of Australian organic and natural livestock producer, Hewitt Cattle Australia (HCA). With over 25 years’ experience within livestock industries, Ben is passionate about achieving optimal performance across large scale agricultural assets. His strategic management of 120,000 head of livestock across HCA’s growing enterprise has underpinned HCA’s commitment to creating a sustainable integrated animal protein business.
Ben is driven to implement highly effective land, pasture, and herd management techniques designed to optimise both economic and environmental outcomes across the HCA footprint. This is complemented by his enthusiastic leadership in animal welfare and environmental stewardship. In his role, Ben guided the rollout of an industry-leading animal welfare program, Global Animal Partnership, and the upgrade of HCA’s Environmental Management System.
Ben maintains a keen interest in precise animal management and fertility. He strongly believes this underpins a profitable livestock enterprise. Developing HCA’s breeding strategy and production systems, Ben led the establishment of the HCA IVF program and the HCA seed stock herd.
Ben executes strategies that drive operational outcomes, capitalising on opportunities for growth and development across the supply chain. He does so by targeting asset development, animal productivity and cost efficiency. Ben also leverages an exceptional understanding of the Australian livestock industry and detailed due diligence to specialise in property selection for acquisition.
Ben is Director and shareholder of Hewitt Cattle Australia and Hewitt Group Australia. In addition to these roles, he sits on the board of Western Plains Pork and Arcadian Organic & Natural Meat Company. These appointments allow Ben to contribute his expertise in production systems and knowledge of the broader supply chain, and support the strategic integration of these businesses within the global livestock protein market.
Brian Gaul is Chief Financial Officer of Australian organic and natural livestock producer, Hewitt Cattle Australia (HCA). Brian has over 25 years’ experience in the accounting industry and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland.
Brian’s roles have covered a diverse range of industries and locations. Beginning his career in Ireland, Brian gained experience in business advisory and audit clients with Coopers & Lybrand before taking the opportunity to work in the United Kingdom and Australia.
Joining merged group PricewaterhouseCoopers in Brisbane, Brian worked in the audit and transaction services teams. Within the transaction services team, Brian worked on high value transactions with his areas of expertise including conducting buyer and vendor due diligence, financial modelling and technical accounting advice. Through his professional services roles, Brian developed exceptional project and client management skills.
In his current role as Chief Financial Officer with HCA, Brian is passionate about delivering quality financial advice and providing leadership and direction to the finance team. Brian has played an integral role in the early establishment and ongoing expansion of HCA. During this period, Brian has been actively involved in developing budgeting and reporting functions and implementing financial controls across the business. He has also been actively involved in land and business acquisitions, including conducting detailed due diligence, executing transactions, and overseeing the smooth integration of newly acquired assets into the growing enterprise.
