Mick Hewitt has over 25 years’ professional experience across the agriculture and beef industries.
A well-regarded industry leader, Mick’s key strengths include; partnering practical operational management solutions with large scale agricultural enterprises, developing commercial strategy, fostering cultural organisational change, strong stakeholder management across operations, administration and investors, leading acquisition and sale processes, innovative financial modelling solutions and transformational management.
Mick began his working life as a Station Hand, Head Stockman and Property Manager across various beef cattle and cropping properties throughout Australia. Combining his business acumen and extensive operational background, Mick led the successful negotiation between Hewitt Group Australia, and one of Canada’s largest sovereign wealth funds, Public Sector Pension Investment Board, which has created one of the Australian Beef Industry’s largest and most innovative industry focused joint ventures.
Mick is a member of the Selection Committee tasked with appointing Board Directors to Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA) and is a Director and Shareholder of Hewitt Group Australia.
Leveraging over 25 years’ experience within the beef sector, Ben is passionate about achieving optimal performance across large scale agricultural assets.
Ben specialises in property selection through detailed due diligence and implementing sustainable land, herd and pasture management techniques designed to optimise both the economic and environmental outcomes across the HCA footprint.
Ben executes strategies that drive operational outcomes, capitalising on opportunities for growth and development through every step of the supply chain. He maintains a particular interest in precise animal management and fertility, believing this ultimately contributes to profitable agricultural enterprises.
Hewitt Cattle Australia currently manages over 80,000 head of livestock including cattle and sheep across Central and Northern Queensland, Northern Territory and New South Wales.
Brian Gaul has over 20 years’ experience in the accountancy industry working across a number of industries and locations.
Brian began his career in Ireland working on business advisory and audit clients in Coopers & Lybrand before working in the United Kingdom and Australia.
Joining merged group PricewaterhouseCoopers in Brisbane, Brian worked in the Audit Division before transferring to the Transaction Services Division. Here, Brian worked on high value deals conducting buyer and vendor due diligence on acquisition transactions, financial modelling and technical accounting advice.
Brian joined Hewitt Cattle Australia as Chief Financial Officer in 2014, heading the accounting function for the business. His key responsibilities include financial planning, managing financial risk, ensuring the accounting team meets its financial reporting requirements to the board, and statutory and tax reporting obligations.
